Sakhisizwe is a grassroots organisation that helps communities help themselves. We work on the ground to find out what is holding a community back, and build solutions together with the people who live there.
Communities first
Too often, communities are told what they need. Plans are made elsewhere, promises are broken, and the people most affected are left out of the decisions that shape their lives.
Sakhisizwe does it differently. We work alongside communities, not around them, helping people become self-sufficient, find their voice and take an active part in shaping the place they live.
The answers are already in the community. Our job is to listen, bring people together and help turn those answers into action.
What we do
We listen
We go door to door, sit with people, and listen to their stories. We host dialogue circles where neighbours talk openly about what matters to them and what they want to change.
We gather evidence
What we hear becomes evidence: a clear, honest picture of what a community needs and what the people who live there believe would work.
We build solutions together
Evidence that stays on paper helps no one. We act on it with the community, so what people identify is what actually gets built, and the community grows stronger in the process.

Tools, not handouts
We equip people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to solve problems themselves, so progress does not depend on us being there.
Evidence into action
What communities tell us is recorded, shared back with them, and used to decide what happens next. Nothing disappears into a report.
We connect people
We bring residents, local leaders, partners and funders together, people who would otherwise never be in the same room.
